Advantage Card Terms and Conditions
| • | The Northern Tool Advantage Card is valid for twelve months from the date of purchase and is non refundable. |
| • | The Northern Tool Advantage Card is only valid on deliveries within the UK mainland, the Isle Of Man + Northern Ireland. |
| • | Offer excludes VAT, and excludes surcharges applied to outlying areas and within the following postcodes/areas: AB, BT, S/Ireland, HS, IM, IV, KW, PA, PH, TR and ZE. |
| • | A maximum of £13.75 carriage charge discount per order will be awarded. |

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE Directive January 2007) Distributors of new Electric and Electronic Equipment (EEE) have a part to play in reducing the amount of WEEE going into landfill sites.
The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive is now UK law. The legislation aims to make producers pay for the collection, treatment and recovery of waste electrical equipment. The regulations also mean that suppliers of equipment like high street shops and internet retailers must allow consumers to return their waste equipment free of charge.
The amount of WEEE we throw away is increasing by around 5% each year, making it the fastest growing waste stream in the UK.
Northern Tool + Equipment UK is obliged under these regulations to offer our customers free take-back of their WEEE on a like-for-like basis when they buy a new Electrical or Electronic product from us.
For example, if a customer bought a new electric drill from us we would accept their old electric drill and prevent it from going into a landfill site by disposing of it safely. Customers must return their WEEE item to us within 28 days of purchasing the new item.
Under the WEEE regulations, all new electrical goods should now be marked with the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol shown below:
Goods are marked with this symbol to show that they were produced after 13th August 2005, and should be disposed of separately from normal household waste so that they can be recycled.

Important Information
As a mail order company our Portsmouth warehouse is not ideal for you to view merchandise prior to purchasing. However, we will try to accommodate. Please help us to help you by calling 48 hours in advance to request a viewing. Our warehouse is open 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday. We can then let you know if your item is in stock. Please note, many items offering free delivery are not stocked at Northern, and most items over 30kg or those needing assembly cannot be shown. Special Offers, Coupons and Promotions
All special offers, promotions and coupons are made available at the discretion of Northern Tool + Equipment and may be amended or withdrawn at any time.
Low Price Guarantee
If you find an identical item advertised at a lower price within 30 days of purchase, then we will refund you 110% of the difference in the two prices. To receive your refund, post us a copy of the advertisement with the offer's expiry date visible, together with a copy of your invoice to Northern Tool at the address below (closures, liquidations, misprints or Northern Tool offers do not apply).
Our Satisfaction Policy
We want you to be pleased with your purchase. If you are not satisfied, you can return your items provided they are unused and in their original packaging. Outbound delivery charges will not be refunded. Call or write within 30 days of purchase for authorisation to return or exchange your unwanted goods. See Delivery + Returns Procedure for more information.
Delivery Information
We will send your order by your selected service (please click here for details on our delivery charges) or the most efficient method. However, certain sizes and weights may require specific carriers to be used:
Palletised freight
Items too heavy or large to be transported by standard shipment will be sent by pallet. If this is the case for your order, you will receive a freight quote. You will need to provide assistance for unloading individual items over 30kg.
Manufacturers and Suppliers' direct delivery
This is a special order delivered to you directly from the manufacturer/supplier. Free delivery applies to UK mainland only.
Direct delivery items may attract a delivery charge if shipped to the following postcode areas: AB, BT, HS, IM, IV, KW, PA, PH, TR and ZE.
Your Sales Representative will be able to provide a quotation for delivery charges to these areas and provide an estimated delivery date at the time of order. As this is a special order, your credit card will be charged at time of order and any returns subject to a 20% restocking fee plus VAT.
Items requiring assembly
Certain items may need assembly prior to use. All machinery must be fuelled and oiled prior to first use. Hydraulic items may need bleeding or refuelling on receipt. Ordering of these items is on the understanding that the purchaser is competent or has employed someone competent to complete these tasks.
Attempted delivery
All deliveries must be signed for on arrival. Our carriers cannot leave goods at unattended sites. We reserve the right to pass on any redelivery charges applied by our carriers should it be necessary to make multiple attempts to successfully deliver your order. We reserve the right to retain carriage charges for orders rejected by the customer at the point of delivery.
Free Delivery
All delivery surcharges are excluded from all FREE DELIVERY offers, whether such an offer is specific to a product, or whether the FREE DELIVERY offer is part of a wider FREE DELIVERY campaign. This exclusion cover any FREE DELIVERY offer in any Northern Tool catalogue, or any FREE DELIVERY offer from the Northern Tool website, www.notherntooluk.com.
Due to logistical problems beyond our control, delivery to certain parts of the UK may take longer than advertised. Please speak with your Sales Rep for confirmation of delivery times.
Returns Procedure
All returns must be arranged through Customer Services who will issue you with a returns authorisation number. Customer Services are contactable on 0845 605 2266 or at custservuk@northerntooluk.com. Please do not attempt to return any item to Northern Tool unless you have been issued with a returns authorisation number. Goods returned without authorisation may result in a delay of your query being dealt with. .
Unsuitable Items
These items can be returned, at your expense, within 30 days of invoice provided:
| • | They are unused, with all manuals and in their original ‘as new’ undamaged packaging. |
| • | Items included with a free gift will need to be returned with the gift. |
| • | Items returned within 30 days can be exchanged or you can decide to have a refund. Items exchanged for the same or greater value will be despatched to you DELIVERY FREE!! |
Original Delivery charges are non-refundable
A minimum 20% re-stocking will be charged or a refund /exchange refused if we are unable to re-sell the unit as new with all manuals in the original packaging. Items delivered directly from the manufacturer are subject to a 20% re-stocking fee and may also be subject to collection / delivery charges. Items returned at your expense are still your responsibility whilst in transit.
Faulty Items
Faulty items can be returned at any time during their warranty period. Please have your original invoice to hand when you call. Petrol / Diesel powered items must have all fuel and oil removed. Please ensure items are suitably packaged for collection. Items delivered on a pallet will need to be palletised when collected. Return packaging is the responsibility of the customer. Should upon inspection no fault can be found or the fault has been caused by mis-use or lack of general maintenance charges may be incurred. In general seals carry a 30 day warranty; consumable components carry a 90 day warranty against defects only. Items marked for ‘domestic’, ‘occasional’ or ‘consumer’ use carry a warranty for home use only. There is no warranty for business use or when bought under a business name.
Damaged Items
Items damaged in transit can be returned provided you have signed for the consignment as damaged or unchecked and notify Customer Services on the above telephone number or e-mail address with 24 working hours of receipt. Please have your packing slip to hand when you call. A replacement unit or refund may be refused if the goods have not been signed for as damaged or unchecked and reported within 24 working hours.
Un-refundable used items
Certain items cannot be refunded by Northern Tool + Equipment if they have been used, due to Health + Safety restrictions. Items covered under this Un-Refundable Used Items condition, include ALL items from our Food Preparation and Pest Control ranges. If you are unsure about whether or not the item you are about to purchase, or have purchased, falls under this Un-Refundable Used Items condition, then please call Northern Tool + Equipment UK for clarification.
Warranties on Merchandise
Products not manufactured by Northern are warranted by the manufacturer and details should be contained in the accompanying manuals. For a copy of your manual and details of your warranty period, please call Customer Services. To report defective merchandise, please quote your invoice number.
All product manuals will detail warranty periods, but in general:

| • | Hydraulic items | 6 months |
All items sold for hire carry a 90-day warranty. Neither Northern nor the manufacturer can be held liable for fair wear and tear or misuse of the goods. In all circumstances, Northern will only be liable for the cost of goods. Shipping or consequential loss will not be paid.
Our Buyer's Statement
Northern does not in any way, warrant that you, the buyer, can lawfully purchase, possess, carry or use any item which you may order, under any applicable UK and / or local laws. You, as buyer, warrant that you have checked those laws, that you are of legal age to purchase these items and that you are not under any legal disability which would in any way affect your ability to lawfully purchase them.
Our Payment Policy and Contract Binding
Northern Tool + Equipment UK will send you an email to confirm receipt of your order and reassure you that your order will be processed as soon as possible. However, at this stage of the ordering process, your order is still considered as an “Invitation to Treat” and no contract will be formed until full payment has been approved and received by Northern Tool + Equipment UK. Once payment has been received and your order has been accepted, your order will be dispatched and an email confirmation of the shipment will be sent to you.
Ownership of any and all Items/Goods, forming an Order, shall not pass to You, the buyer, until full payment relating to the Order is received by Us. All Items/Goods and Packaging received by You, will be maintained in a satisfactory condition and be satisfactorily insured against all risks until full payment relating to the Order is received by Us. Under certain conditions Your rights to possession of the Items/Goods can be terminated, in relation to, but not restricted to, having a bankruptcy order made against You, or You enter into liquidation. You agree that We, or Our representatives, may enter any premises where Items/Goods are or may be stored in order to inspect them, or recover them where possession has been terminated. Cheques received with orders will be deposited on receipt. All orders are processed assuming they will be delivered complete. Back orders can occur. These items will be delivered as we receive them. Palletised orders paid by credit card will be charged when we receive them in stock. Back ordered items will not be charged until the item is in stock or available for delivery. We reserve the right to verify funds with your bank before delivery, which may cause a delay of up to 6 working days. A £15 service charge will be made on all returned cheques.
